Cayuse is a census-designated place (CDP) and unincorporated community in Umatilla County, Oregon, United States, located 11 miles east of Pendleton on the Umatilla Indian Reservation. The population was 59 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Pendleton–Hermiston Micropolitan Statistical Area. According to ''Oregon Geographic Names'', Cayuse, named for the Cayuse people, began as a railroad station and post office, which was established in 1867.
